2011 Super Bowl Odds: Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks will enter NFC wild card action vs the Saints on Saturday as the first division champion to have a losing record entering the post season and that is one of the many reasons why they have opened at online sportsbooks as a +10000 longshot in odds to win Super Bowl XLV predictions. Seattle finished with a record of 7-9 both straight up and against the spread with an over/under mark of 11-4-1 OVER the total. Seattle was absolutely dreadful down the stretch heading into Super Bowl odds as longshots since they won just 3 of their last 10 games while paying out just 3 times.

Seattle was simply fortunate to play in the NFC West, AKA “NFC Worst” vs the Cardinals, Rams and 49ers heading into odds to win the 2011 Super Bowl as they scored a season finale home win and payout over St. Louis to clinch the division in Pete Carroll’s first year as coach. Seattle will host the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints on Saturday in the NFC wild card playoff round as 10.5-point underdogs. Seattle is well below average on both sides of the line heading into 2011 Super Bowl XLV predictions as the largest underdog on the Vegas betting boards as they ranked 28th for total offense and 27th for total defense.

Quarterback play was not good for the Seahawks as starter Matt Hasselbeck had a 73.2 QB rating with a 12/17 TD/INT ratio and number two QB Charlie Whitehurst had an even worse 65.5 QB rating with a 2/3 TD/INT ratio. The running game was putrid as it ranked next to last in the NFL. Heading into Super Bowl XLV odds, Seattle was 5-3 against the spread at home but was 5-8 against the number as an underdog. The Seahawks went UNDER the total in just 2 home games this season. Seattle is not expected to go beyond the second round of the playoffs in Super Bowl XLV predictions although a first round upset of New Orleans is considered by many handicappers to be possible.
