I don’t know about you, but most people I personally know, often forget the real charm of toasting some one’s success. But the things we often remember are the little things like “Gee that wine was so good” or the glorious clink and ring that chime through the air from everyone’s glass. But if it’s a stiff drink, champagne or a fine wine, toasting in Styrofoam cups or plastic glasses just kind of ruins the moment for me.
There are many occasions that call for a toast. Such as weddings, birthdays, promotions, partnerships and, of course, New Years Eve. The occasion calls out for the “cheers” tools. So, for instance, if you are making a business toast its good to prepare the cheers announcement and decide on the medium served. The boss usually has a preference and would most probably have the best suggestion. Myself, I would recommend wine for family, or punch and mixed drink for promotional celebrations. I would also recommend a variety depending on the toast and who is toasting. Of course, champagne is the perfect toast for any occasion. You don’t always need an occasion to toast, some times it just comes from the heart and spur of the moment.
I’ve found a toast from the blue is often the best and straight from the heart. Like when a good friend of mine stopped by. I hadn’t seen my friend in years and the occasion wasn’t planned, but it was very memorable. A toast is like a hand shake that binds the moment to the cheer given. So if the occasion is plan-able, get the right equipment, like the right glasses, the right speech, the right lighting, and well,you get it. A toast is like a personal connection to everyone cheering and it should be bold and memorable.
If you’re able to plan ahead and you know the celebration is going to lead to some people smashing their glasses, like a Jewish celebration or wedding, or just because. You may want to shop for the cheapest glasses you can find. But if breaking them is out of the question and not likely, then you would want elegance, and so I would shop unique. Shopping online can really open up this alternative. If your toast of choice is martinis, then choose martini glasses. If you prefer wine, then I would definitely choose wine goblets that compliment the wine such as large goblets for red and smaller for white wines. Somehow, the size seems to amplify the effect and flavor of the wine. Should you choose champagne, I suggest fine crystal champagne flutes. Be sure to avoid pressed or molded glass as it simply doesn’t give the ring that crystal does and remember true crystal doesn’t have to contain lead to be crystal. Just be sure it is hand blown that means it is a safe modern crystal as lead is no longer allowed in dinnerware of any kind. To get that ding-ringing sound for your toast it must be hand blown crystal glass ware. So have a wonderful celebration and drive safely. Your comments will be appreciated.
