Artel woodland scenes have delighted audiences for centuries, from the 16th-century prints of joris hoefnagel to the imaginitave fancy of children’s illustrators like beatrix potter. It is this diverse tradition that inspired “woodland”, a limited edition hand engraved crystal bowl now available from artel. Karen feldman, artel’s founder and creator, drew on both serious imagery and kitsch to create woodland, a lively portrayal of woodland creatures, featuring a deer leaping amidst rabbits, birds, and wildflowers. The result is a crystal masterpiece that combines tradition with a whimsical freshness. Each of these large, round bowls suitable as a display piece or for holding fruit or salads requires 48 hours of engraving.
Artel is a glassmaking company based in prague that fuses czech glassmaking traditions with contemporary shapes.
